Fuchsia : A new OS or the end of Android?😕

A warm welcome to all my dear readers. Today I'm going to share something on an emerging Operating System by Google named as FUCHSIA (foo-shuh). This OS is still in its early stage but it appeared GitHub in 2016. It is still not known why is this OS being developed but it may affect the market of Android OS. Both Android as well as Fuchsia are products of Google. Let's see some facts about the new OS.





Features of Fuchsia:

  • It is an open source, capability based OS developed by Google.
  • It appeared in august 2016 on git without any official announcement made by google.
  •  Fuchsia means a color which is the mixture of Pink and Purple.
  • GitHub project says that this OS will be able to run on many platforms and Swift programming language was supporting in November 2017.
  • Google published Fuchsia guide on how to run it on Pixelbooks in January 2018.
  • Official website of this project development was announced by Google in July 2019.
  • Fuchsia uses flutter in it's interface as well as it's applications.
  • It looks totally different from any other mobile OS.

What exactly is Fuchsia?

  • Like Android and Chrome OS, Fuchsia is not based on Linux.
  • Instead of Linux kernel it is based on Google developed kernel called Magenta.
  • Magenta is aimed at modern phones and modern computers,
  • The core of this OS is Zircon micro-kernel  to communicate with hardware and boot the system which runs this OS.
  • This OS is being tested in Huawei phone Honor Play.
